I am originally from Massachusetts where I attended studies in art
education, drawing classes and workshops instructed by area professional
artists and at the local college. At that time, I was working mainly in
charcoal, oils, acrylic, inks and pastels.
I moved to Dunedin
Florida in 1992, and attended classes in watercolor instruction at the
Dunedin Art Center with various professional artists and have attended
numerous workshops to continually develop my skills.
While I
love watercolor and its many possibilities, I will include acrylic,
inks, gouache, pastels, pencil and charcoal and collage materials in my
paintings to achieve the desired affect.
The surfaces for my
choice of mediums varies from watercolor paper, canvas, illustration
board, Thai Papers, Papyrus, wood, Plexiglas and just about anything
that will accept paint.
Recently I moved to and back from
Massachusetts and Maine. While in Maine, I learned the creative process
of Nuno Felting and Wet Felting – new love found!
Artist's Statement:
When I think of ‘how did I get myself into this art world? I always
come back to – I simply love to paint!
There is no rhyme or
reason as to why I love to paint - only that I do.
It didn’t
start this way for me at all with being married and busily raising three
children and working to make ends meet.
But, I was always taking
a creative class of some sort and at one of those classes - which was
for custom floral design – the instructor whispered in my ear “have you
ever thought of painting?”…… the seed was planted!
The beginning
of my passion - with the thought put into my head that led to my loving
what I do each day since – creating art in whatever medium and surface I
feel and in the style of the moment of what I am seeing and feeling.
So, after many years of classes and workshops and hours with a brush
in hand, here I am – sharing my work with people who love art – and that
only happened because an artist friend suggested I should exhibit my art
work.
Never did I think I would be showing my work to so many
people nor enjoy so immensely the sharing of dreams, hopes and desires
and processes with so many.
I am truly the recipient of the
fruits of the labor of love.
