Judith has interest in light and color. You can see this in her painting "An Evening A'Fair". Although she retains respect for realism, her strong interest lies in stylized and total intuitive abstraction. She works in acrylics, oil, pastel, watercolor and ink. She also enjoys occasional plein air painting. She attended painting classes at the Milwaukee School of Art, and studied portrait drawing with the late James Prohl in his Atelier Prohl, Milwaukee, WI, an Old Boston School method of realism. Her interest in portraits took her to the New York studio of master painter Daniel E. Greene. She took life-painting lessons at the Arts Center with artist in residence, Christopher Drake, when she first arrived in St. Petersburg, FL. She has taken art workshops in varying mediums throughout Florida. She was an invited artist to paint plein air at the annual Ribfest downtown St. Petersburg, FL 2004. She organized and coordinated a 'paintout' at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in October 2006 which resulted in the most popular works on display for a month at banks in Island Estates. Her memberships include the ISAP-FL, and
various Florida art groups. She is retired and lives in
Clearwater, FL. |
