Joan developed her love of art and especially watercolor when she was still a high school student growing up on Long Island, New York.  She was Art Editor of the High School Year Book and sold her first watercolor to the Ingersol Watch Company for use on a calendar while still in school.

World War II was raging, so Art School was shelved for a 'defense' job. Joan worked for the US Army Transportation Core at the NY Port of Embarkation as a draftsman.  One of the happy perks of that job was getting up in the middle of the night, traveling into the city and boarding the tugs that used to go out and welcome home the soldiers returning from the European front.

After the war, she attended fine art classes at the Art Student League in NY City.  Joan and her husband Jack raised three children. They came to Florida in 1959 and Joan worked helping her husband design many homes in the area. Joan worked with the customers choosing colors and also did some art work for the model homes.  Over the years she has studied with noted artists both in Florida and in New England where they summered.

Joan is currently a member of the Largo Art Association, the Beach Art Center and the Creative Artists Guild. Joan's greatest pleasure is seeing someone enjoy her work.
