I started painting 2 years ago in my mid forties. I had been talking about taking classes for at least 10 years after seeing a painting an acquaintance of mine had done in a class at Michael's. So I did. I became obsessed; I think about what to paint and how to paint it day and night. I've worked with two other teachers since taking those first classes at Michael's; The Art Gallery on Highland Ave with Sonya and with Roma at the Belleview Biltmore. I learn something valuable from each teacher and am forever seeking the next teacher. Last year I took Drawing I at SPC, which was a fantastic class. I learned a lot about perspective and relative space, shading, and all that. It was great and I was voted "most improved drawer" of the semester! Recently I've been letting my paintings be my learning experiences because I do work full time as the Program Director of the High Point Neighborhood Family Center and am a full time online student at SPC, going for my degree in education. My plan is to teach art as my "retirement career". So I've got to hurry up and learn!

I'm very happy to belong to a group full of people with the same appreciation for all that is beautiful in this world and the desire to be part of it through art.
